Gravity Hill of Altadena

Gravity Hill of Altadena is one of the places I heard a lot about when I was growing up in the nineteen nineties. The story goes that a school bus full of children lost control coming down a hill in altadena and there were no survivors. On the spot where the accident happened people claim that if you put your car in neutral on the hill, your car will be pushed upwards defying gravity. The theory claims this happens because the ghosts of the children are trying to push your car to safety. Some people say that if you put flour or baby powder on the bumper of your car you can see the fingerprints or handprints of the children. Some people even claim to hear children laughing. 

I heard about this story as a teenager and back then it kinda seemed like everyone knew the stories about these places but didn’t know exactly how to get there. More than one night has been spent driving around looking for gravity hill and/or sitting in the wrong hill with no paranormal experiences. 

I recently came across an actual address at the 1000 block of East Loma Alta Drive that I had not tried before so I thought I would give it a visit. 

I headed out with my husband Sean.We were just going to investigate the uphill phenomenon so we did not have any equipment with us besides GPS.  It was around 7 pm and it was already dark. The area surrounding the hill was unsettling and definitely spooky. Pulling up to the hill, I was surprised by how shallow and short the hill actually was because, In my imagination I was expecting a big steep long dangerous looking hill. This was not that hill. We stopped a couple yards from the top and put the car in neutral. To my surprise the car started to very slowly crawl up the hill, picking up speed after a moment. WOW!! It actually worked! We did not get out of the car and we did not hear children laughing or whispering. 

If you do a little research the explanation for this phenomenon is an optical illusion but…. As a spooky experiment it really is fun to see such impressive results and this is one of the haunted spaces that is easy to access if you have the directions/ address. Two thumbs up!! I plan on going back with some equipment to take some emf readings and do a little recording. I will probably also take some baby powder or flour to test for hand prints. I might also make a third trip to test out some sort of spirit communication like a spirit box or spirit dice or something like that. I guess time will tell on that one.
